Madhelin's Biography

Hello!!

My name is Madhelin González Alcántara. I was born on November 13th, 1992, in yamasa, but I grew up in a small village in Monte Plata. I began school when I was six years old. In that school I had to learn some things like how to do my works on time, respet to my partners, and being responsible.

In my free time I like drawning, dancing, and watching horror movies. I am a falower of healthy food and  fresh juices. Also, I love to go out with my friends, dance a lot, and having parties without planning it.

Now, I am a student modern languages and I'm taking my last subjects for finishing my carer. After my graduation I wish I had a good job and buying a big house.

God is my superhero!

About Unit 3: The Bold and the Bashful

The Bold and the Bashful         The content of this unit reminded me of a time I was considered shy and introverted. I also particularly remember being  misattributed  of having an  aloof  personality by many of my classmates in middle school and high school. However, later I understood this was simply because I did not share most interests or hobbies with them; therefore, while it might sound a bit  condescending , I just did not make any efforts to be on their good side, or seek for their friendship as I found it pointless. The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a tipping point is " the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place ". With this said, I think globalization has proven to be one of the most remarkable tipping points in worldwide history as it has had a tremendous effect in world economy, education, ideologies, health, and several other aspects of humanity.  For instance, it has made countries depend upon each other for sustaining their economy (e.g. tourism, petroleum, etc.) and also through free trade treaties. In addition, globalization has allowed for universities to reach international agreements. Unit 6: Spiritual Renewal

Spiritual renewal refers to practices or intends to get closer to the divine practices including fasting, praying, meditating, among others. This is not a new practice, it has been among us during centuries. All religions seek spiritual renewal, but their motivations are not always the same. For example, in fasting, we find that some religions do it to get spiritual discipline (episcopalianism), some others to get away from materialism (judaism), and others do it do to preserve their ancient traditions.It does not matter the reason why we seek to be renewed spiritually, what matters is that we all have the internal need to seek it. It seems like humans beings have the necessity to connect with something greater than the self.
