My Autobiography

My name is Nikaury Saldivar Ramírez and I was born on November 4th, 1996 in  Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I was raised in a big family with my parents, my 2 sisters and my brother. My mother's name is Maria Antonia Ramirez, she is from Padre Las Casas Dom. Rep. My father's name is Pedro Saldivar, he is from Cotui, Dom. Rep. I had a very happy childhood, not with everything I wanted but with everything I needed, the love of my beautiful family. I played volleyball since I was 9 years old till I was 16. I was dancer, I used to dance in an academy near home, I also danced for a foundation.

I studied in a public school. When I was little I wanted to become a doctor when I start the university, but as I was growing I realized that I really wanted to study languages, so I started studying Modern Languages at UASD in 2015.

I left my parents' house when I was 17, I moved with my boyfriend, John Castillo, and we had a daughter when I was 18, since I had a child at a very young age, It was more difficult to me to work and study at the same time; however, it has not been an impediment for me to finish school and go to the university.

Even though I'm a young mother I'm a happy girl, with a lot of dreams and goals, looking forward to finishing the university, and getting many things I have been working for. I'm focus more than ever on the things I want to get, and I hope I enjoy this course and learn new things from my professor as well as my classmates.

The Bold and the Bashful         The content of this unit reminded me of a time I was considered shy and introverted. I also particularly remember being  misattributed  of having an  aloof  personality by many of my classmates in middle school and high school. However, later I understood this was simply because I did not share most interests or hobbies with them; therefore, while it might sound a bit  condescending , I just did not make any efforts to be on their good side, or seek for their friendship as I found it pointless. The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a tipping point is " the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place ". With this said, I think globalization has proven to be one of the most remarkable tipping points in worldwide history as it has had a tremendous effect in world economy, education, ideologies, health, and several other aspects of humanity.  For instance, it has made countries depend upon each other for sustaining their economy (e.g. tourism, petroleum, etc.) and also through free trade treaties. Unit 6: Spiritual Renewal

Spiritual renewal refers to practices or intends to get closer to the divine practices including fasting, praying, meditating, among others. This is not a new practice, it has been among us during centuries. All religions seek spiritual renewal, but their motivations are not always the same. For example, in fasting, we find that some religions do it to get spiritual discipline (episcopalianism), some others to get away from materialism (judaism), and others do it do to preserve their ancient traditions.It does not matter the reason why we seek to be renewed spiritually, what matters is that we all have the internal need to seek it.
