Me, myself and I


    My name is Elisaura Gonzalez Clase. I came into this world on March 8th (International Women's Day), 1993, in Santo Domingo, RD. Seven words that best describe me are probably thoughtful, enjoyable, fun, patience, brave, naive and independent.

    I love spending my time on weekends going over to my friends' house or someone coming to my house. If I don't do that, I'll go jogging, to the movie theater, or just walk around the Colonial Zone... I enjoy reading literature and writing poetry/thoughts, it sets me free.

    Today, I am a Modern Languages student and I feel very happy about it. I am certain that my degree will become my ticket to a better tomorrow. Also, I combine a full-time job and full-time study to earn my living and my education. I feel triumphant every month when I receive my paychecks. Of course, I understand that life is not just a bed of roses, challenges and hardships are an important aspect of life. Since my mother could not help me to cover my college expenses in full, it has become a hard time for me... Facts of life...

    Lastly, I just hope, we all make it through this class.

About Unit 3: The Bold and the Bashful

The Bold and the Bashful         The content of this unit reminded me of a time I was considered shy and introverted. I also particularly remember being  misattributed  of having an  aloof  personality by many of my classmates in middle school and high school. However, later I understood this was simply because I did not share most interests or hobbies with them; therefore, while it might sound a bit  condescending , I just did not make any efforts to be on their good side, or seek for their friendship as I found it pointless. Nonetheless, I did get to build great friendships with a few  kindred souls  along my formative years with whom, to this date, I feel comfortable and content around and can talk about pretty much everything. Unit 6: Spiritual Renewal

Spiritual renewal refers to practices or intends to get closer to the divine practices including fasting, praying, meditating, among others. This is not a new practice, it has been among us during centuries. All religions seek spiritual renewal, but their motivations are not always the same. For example, in fasting, we find that some religions do it to get spiritual discipline (episcopalianism), some others to get away from materialism (judaism), and others do it do to preserve their ancient traditions.It does not matter the reason why we seek to be renewed spiritually, what matters is that we all have the internal need to seek it. It seems like humans beings have the necessity to connect with something greater than the self.
