Unit 7: Workplace Privacy



This video is about ID Badges. Before reading this unit, I did not know these devices existed! They are used by employers to track their workers, by including bluetooth, an emotion sensor, and microphones, among other things. While they do not record conversations, they do register when employees are talking with other colleagues, and then they send reports to the employer with this information. 

I was very surprised by finding out these ID Badges have an emotion sensor too! Like, how intrusive is that! Nothing could make one feel more vulnerable than not being able to keep one's feelings private. I think employees would feel more at ease if they are the ones who communicate how they are feeling and that is only possible if a proper work environment is fostered, which is not achieved with technology but with human interaction, with employers who put themselves in the shoes of their workers and search their wellfare as human beings. Employees treated with humanity = better work quality.

The Bold and the Bashful         The content of this unit reminded me of a time I was considered shy and introverted. I also particularly remember being  misattributed  of having an  aloof  personality by many of my classmates in middle school and high school. The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a tipping point is " the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place ". With this said, I think globalization has proven to be one of the most remarkable tipping points in worldwide history as it has had a tremendous effect in world economy, education, ideologies, health, and several other aspects of humanity.  For instance, it has made countries depend upon each other for sustaining their economy (e.g. tourism, petroleum, etc.) and also through free trade treaties. Unit 6: Spiritual Renewal

Spiritual renewal refers to practices or intends to get closer to the divine practices including fasting, praying, meditating, among others. This is not a new practice, it has been among us during centuries. All religions seek spiritual renewal, but their motivations are not always the same. For example, in fasting, we find that some religions do it to get spiritual discipline (episcopalianism), some others to get away from materialism (judaism), and others do it do to preserve their ancient traditions.It does not matter the reason why we seek to be renewed spiritually, what matters is that we all have the internal need to seek it.
