Introducing Myself





  Hello colleagues, my name is Carmen Robles Moreno. I am thirty years old, and I am From Monte Plata, Dominican Republic.  I have been living in Santo Domingo for the last eleven years. I came here to study Civil Engineering. Nevertheless, I stop college after some years. In 2015, I did the English Immersion Program, and I fell in love with the language. As a consequence, the following year, I enrolled in a Modern Languages bachelor's degree, and fortunately, I have only three subjects left.

  I  work as a teacher for The English Immersion Program. I might say that I am happily married since 2018. I am looking forward to getting a master's degree scholarship so I can continue learning after finishing my career. I see myself as a literature professor in the future because I enjoy writing and reading, as well as discussing authors points of view on their books.

Nothing to Hide  As we finished covering the former unit titled Honesty is the Best Policy, a French movie named Nothing to Hide (Le Jeu) suddenly  came to my mind. The film’s plot involved a group of old friends who gathered one evening for a dinner party. Things soon got out of hand after they decide to play a game that consisted in surrendering their cellphones, and placing them in the center of the dinner table, so as to allow all of them equal access to each other’s incoming calls and messages as proof that none of them had nothing to “hide” or conceal from each other. As the game progressed many unexpected and shocking secrets began to emerge exposing their dishonest behavior, leaving them all in the midst of irreparable conflicts and chaos. Unit 2. Honesty is the Best Policy.

There are many reasons why people lie, but all those reason end up wit the same goal: to get something in their favor.  We all have lied at a certain point in our life, to get a job, to convince someone of something, to run away with murder, and so on. Those pretty lies are seen like something that are fine and like if they are not going to cause any damage but that is not always true, some lies can bring really bad consequences. The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a tipping point is " the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place ". With this said, I think globalization has proven to be one of the most remarkable tipping points in worldwide history as it has had a tremendous effect in world economy, education, ideologies, health, and several other aspects of humanity.  For instance, it has made countries depend upon each other for sustaining their economy (e.g. tourism, petroleum, etc.) and also through free trade treaties. In addition, globalization has allowed for universities to reach international agreements.
