Honesty is the Best Policy

Honesty is the Best Policy

Having someone tell you the truth for your good is a very valuable asset. It is better than having a flatterer near you. It is better than having a friend who says “all is well” no matter what. So, if you have friends who tell you the truth even when it hurts but do so with gentleness, hold on to them. You see, I think the key point here is telling the truth in an appropriate time, in the appropriate manner, because ultimately what you want is to build up your loved ones, not to tear them down. For example, if someone you know has lost somebody whose reputation was messy, their time of grief is not a time to talk about it. Truth does not come out right when love does not precede it. In addition to love, an honest person needs wisdom. Yes, you need to be wise about what information is essential for you to share with others depending on the scenario. I do not mean that you should hide information at your convenience but rather think further on what others need to know. In conclusion, next time you say the truth be tender and think twice about what you are saying.
