Joel’s introduction

Joel’s introduction

My name is Joel D Méndez Ramírez. I was born in Dominican Republic on November 16th, 1994. The place in which I grew up (and the place I wish I did not live in) is named Sabana Perdida. I will not write more about my childhood because you might not care about it. 😝

In 2012 I was looking forward to becoming a doctor, so I enrolled for Medicine. Unfortunately, things  do not end up like we all like them to, I had abruptly changed my major to Modern Languages by the last semester of 2016 as you can notice. Why did I do that? Many of my friends have asked and you might wonder the same as well. Well, being UASD’s student and working at the same time is not a piece of cake. In the case of medicine is even harder. Thus, I chose something that not only allows me to make some money, but also I do enjoy. Do not call it a shortcut, do not say I gave up, I’m just fighting in another weight, driving in another road, swinging the same bat but wearing another uniform. However, it does not mean I would not like to com back, but this is it.

Another, thing you’ll probably like about me is that I talk way too much😅. I mean, my friends like it. Sharing and speaking about stuff helps learn from each other, therefore, it helps us grow. I like showing others all things I think might be useful. Also, I’m quite good at math, so good that my high school classmates wanted me to be an engineer, I do not have to tell you how mad they were any time  I happily said “Hey, I study Medicine.” I just told everyone the same: “Life is short, we gotta do what  we actually like.”

About this classroom, the ones that did not know before the class started, now know me as “the guy that fell asleep” 😴 . That happens to me when  there is lack of willingness in the classroom, when the professor has to lower the level, or whenever students are crying 😢 as children because this is “too hard”. I usually try to have the required competence of the given course in order to be able to understand the class and allow the professor to go much deeper.

Consequently, I encourage you guys to do your best: pay attention, study at home and participate, so that the class becomes much more interesting; and we keep all walking forward. I will also do my best and try not to fall asleep nor nod off either. Thanks! 😆
