First of all, in order to have a clear understanding of the word addition and what to be an addict actually implies, we have to know not only what an addition is, but also identify when someone is an internet addict and what are the consequences of being an addict. Truth be told, I will finally let you some recommendations for the ones that are internet addicts already and some warning for the ones that are not but could possibly get involved into this unhealthy habit.
When we talk about addition, we are using a term which refers not only to dependence on substances such as heroin or cocaine. A person who cannot stop taking a particular substance or doing a particular activity has a noticeable dependence. Additions involve an inability to stop doing such activities (it could be gambling, eating, even working). In this case, a person obviously has a behavioral addiction; and this is the kind of addiction that internet addicts belong to.
Clarifying the previous definition of addition, an addiction is a psychological and physical inability to stop consuming a chemical, drug, activity, or substance, even though it is causing psychological and physical harm. Thus, being an internet habit is not convenient for human beings and it could drive us to extremely bad circumstances in our lives such as losing the control of the info we share about ourselves, which means sometimes people do not realize how much details of their personal life they are letting people know. Also, people can experience a lack of concentration in significance activities of their daily lives, and thus, they could physically attend one place but their minds could be in a totally different place; they compulsively check their phones or any other device, leaving reality aside. Moreover, as a consequence of the extreme use of internet, people forget about sleeping at a proper time. Users experience headaches and have some affections because of interrupting the night rest checking their devices.
Due to all these matters, I will like to enlighten you by giving you quite important ways out. First and foremost, you have to be aware of the problem. Being honest with yourself in order to observe this limit and comprehend this addiction is personally, academically and professionally affecting your entire life. Also, you have to ask for help because it is very hard to go through all this by your own, actually, most of the people just cannot make it alone.
Finally, I would like to let you know what you should do to avoid this addiction. First, give priority to relationships which require meetings and personal conversations once in a while. Furthermore, try to find joy in the freedom of speeding good time without taking any photo to upload it, instead, observe the little details and save them in your memory. Last, turn your cellphone off, or leave it in another room while you are at home. It is good to enjoy time with daily activities and get used to it, you could even schedule this moment and make it part of your daily life. In conclusion, being an internet addict is harmful and unhealthy, thus, all of us must do all we can against this matter, so we do not become a compulsive abuser of the usage of internet.
