Feng Shui: The Role of the Mirrors

When it comes to decoration, I did know how important it is to arrange things to have a good aesthetic view; however, I did not know the existence of the art of aligning things in the environment to create harmony and good luck, known as Feng Shui. And, this art aims to create both physical and psychological comfort. After listening to the interview in the unit, I realized that my house does not fulfill some of the main ideas of Feng Shui. For example, all the bedrooms in my house have large mirrors and none of the other rooms has one, and this goes against Feng Shui and the role of the mirrors. According to Lagattre, you should not put mirrors in the bedroom because it can scare you and frighten your spirit; however, you should place them in other rooms since they would reflect chi energy and help it to circulate in a more healthy way. Therefore, everything must be placed in a certain way to create harmony and to release your chi energy.

Nothing to Hide  As we finished covering the former unit titled Honesty is the Best Policy, a French movie named Nothing to Hide (Le Jeu) suddenly  came to my mind. The film’s plot involved a group of old friends who gathered one evening for a dinner party. Things soon got out of hand after they decide to play a game that consisted in surrendering their cellphones, and placing them in the center of the dinner table, so as to allow all of them equal access to each other’s incoming calls and messages as proof that none of them had nothing to “hide” or conceal from each other. Unit 2. Honesty is the Best Policy.

There are many reasons why people lie, but all those reason end up wit the same goal: to get something in their favor.  We all have lied at a certain point in our life, to get a job, to convince someone of something, to run away with murder, and so on. The Tipping Point According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a tipping point is " the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place ". With this said, I think globalization has proven to be one of the most remarkable tipping points in worldwide history as it has had a tremendous effect in world economy, education, ideologies, health, and several other aspects of humanity.  For instance, it has made countries depend upon each other for sustaining their economy (e.g. tourism, petroleum, etc.) and also through free trade treaties.
