Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that are common among animals. The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a tipping point is " the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place ". With this said, I think globalization has proven to be one of the most remarkable tipping points in worldwide history as it has had a tremendous effect in world economy, education, ideologies, health, and several other aspects of humanity.  For instance, it has made countries depend upon each other for sustaining their economy (e.g. tourism, petroleum, etc.) and also through free trade treaties. In addition, globalization has allowed for universities to reach international agreements. Studying abroad has become more accesible and as a result, professionals are being better equipped for their tasks. Another consequence of this phenomenon is the spread and assimilation of new ideologies like feminism, civil rights, gender ideology, and inclusion of disable...

The Tipping Point

Currently Corona virus is a worldwide tipping point, since it has changed our lives in so many ways, especially the life of  young people like me that did not know that a pandemic could have such effects. Some of the issues that we have been facing lately are: increases in the prices of essential products to feed our family, suspension of flies all over the world, suspension of any event that implies gathering of people, close of universities, schools, churches, and even businesses that do not sell food or medicine. Even though for many it does not mean anything, because they are doing as they please, acting carelessly, like anything is going on, as I take it, this situation is terrible, because in order to survive, we must be far from our loved ones, closeted in our houses without receiving help from any institution, and watching the news, noticing how thousands of persons are dying everywhere and no advances are made to stop the spread of the virus. This situation is terrible...

The following is a comment on Honesty  according to what was discussed in class. I may say that honesty is a very rare value in today's society. All around the word, people just look after their own benefits. I think  lying and manipulating others is part of human nature. The decision of an individual to be honest comes from his very inner concience.        We can not say that Honesty as a value is not taught in families and that due to this, children become dishonest people. No, everyone choose if doing the right thing or taking the easy way out of predicaments in their lives. For example, cheating on exams is a pervasive practice. Anyway, there are people who decide from the first moment to cheat instead of studying and preparing themselves for exams.       Even though most the times dishonest people take advantage and even get better  social acknowledgement, the truth some day goes out. I will always h...

The Tiping point

The Tiping Point The term “tipping point” itself was popularised by journalist and author  Malcolm Gladwell  in his  book  of the same name, published in 2000. Gladwell describes tipping points as “the moment of critical mass, the threshold, the boiling point”, and explores examples throughout human society: “There was a tipping point for [declining] violent crime in New York in the early 1990s, and a tipping point for the reemergence of Hush Puppies, just as there is a tipping point for the introduction of any new technology.” In the years since, the term has been used increasingly in scientific circles. However, this has not been without  controversy . There are, for example, many different views on how the term should be defined and used, explains Collins: “There has been an intensive debate in the field of tipping points, abrupt change and irreversibility about the definitions of these terms. They range from the very mathematical to...

Unit 4: The Tipping Point

Unit 4 Tipping Point First, we saw the concept of tipping point in the class, the last meeting we had. The professor said that tipping point is something important, such as when we graduate from the university, when we get our first job, when we get married, among other examples. After that class, we have not been able to meet again, however the professor was talking about this concept through the whatsapp group. He said that a tipping point is an important change that happens in a country's life or in a person's life, or in a situation. One perfect example of a tipping point in the world is the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which has changed the world in many aspects. Affecting the economy, people's life, the way people behave, education, among others things. Moreover, some other examples were given from the professor and students, such as: when a person has his or her first child, the Independence Day in a country, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo's death in the Dominic...

UNIT 4: TIPPING POINT

When we talk about Tipping Point we are talking about a point or moment of change, something crucial, new and important in the history of a country. It is an interesting topic that helps us to see the main focus of things. We always notice how the most important and relevant events are those that remain marked in the history of some place and how that teaches us and tells us something. Currently the biggest example we have is the Corona Virus (Crown Virus). This virus has marked a before and after in the world as it has done other plagues of past decades but still I understand that no other plague has caused or done what the Crown Virus, this has been a great Tipping Point in humanity. Finally, it is good to differentiate how we talk to the professor, when something is so relevant as to be a Tipping Point and when it is not, for example and following the theme of the crown virus, talking about quarantine is not something that is considered ...

Tipping point

Hi professor and peers,  while I was pondering over this topic I was thinking about the same thing that then, Jenny brought up to the Whatsapp group. 'Roadside Assistance' is one of the barely things that work in this country. In addition to that, the police officers involved on that program give you all the support you need with a smile and not expecting under the counter money ... That is something to highlight of this government and a real tipping point because it is something unprecedented the government has launched so kudos for that.

The Bold and the Bashful

Imagen
This unit is one of my favorite for many reasons, especially since it's about two opposite sides of human personality. First,we have the bold person (is extrovert, fearless, talkative and friendly) ,and in the other hand,we have the bashful person (is introvert, shy, timid and reticent). In the past I was an extremely shy person and that condition led me to the extreme of not being  active in the classroom and my grades weren't  the best ,but now I consider myself a mixture of both because I am more active, more talkative, introvert, friendly  and timid at the same time.

Unit 1 Internal and other addictions

The internet is one of the greatest creations and provides people with instant access to an endless supply of knowledge and entertainment. You can find information and learn. The are several activities that can be performed on the internet: surfing, e-mailing downloading, social networking, blogging, navigating in vitual worlds, gaming, chatting, and others. All of these can be used for work, leisure or interpersonal communication despite its inherent benefits, the internet is not without its problems especially when its use becomes excessive. When it becomes an addiction, it creates the problem in the physical and mental health of the person. In my opinion the internet is good, but you need to have control of it.
Unit 1: The Internet and Other Additions First of all, in order to have a clear understanding of the word addition and what to be an addict actually implies, we have to know not only what an addition is, but also identify when someone is an internet addict and what are the consequences of being an addict. Truth be told, I will finally let you some recommendations for the ones that are internet addicts already and some warning for the ones that are not but could possibly get involved into this unhealthy habit. When we talk about addition, we are using a term which refers not only to dependence on substances such as heroin or cocaine. A person who cannot stop taking a particular substance or doing a particular activity has a noticeable dependence. Additions involve an inability to stop doing such activities (it could be gambling, eating, even working). In this case, a person obviously has a behavioral addiction; and this is the kind of addiction that internet addicts belo...

One of the most common tipping points is "gender violence", since it begins with fights, offenses, beatings, and then death. This issue happens day after day because of the System and the cowardice of the People, and the low self-esteem Which Makes us let ourselves go and do bad things.

The tipping point is an important moment  and event in the life An important tipping point was when Jesus died on the cross for each one of us,  to free us from our sins without receiving anything in return and although there were people who mistreated him and they put a crown of thorns on his head and they made fun of him, Jesus with his infinite love, being on the cross, he asked for forgiveness and mercy for the people who mistreated him. Jesus resuscitated on the third day. Jesus came to this earth to suffer and died because he loves us.

The bold and the bashful

B old is when a person is friendly, outgoing, and likes to go out with his or her friends. And  bashful is the opposite, it is when a person is introverted, shy and does not like to go out with his or her friends. I am bashful because I am quiet, and I don't like to express my feelings. Sentences with some vocabulary words from unit 3 He is a  reticent person because he always speaks low in the class. Maria has a phobia of public speaking. Laura is an extrovert girl, she always goes out with her friends. My mom and I are kindred souls . we are both friendly people. You make misattributions in your research about the bold and bashful people. Dance students are shy to dance in public, this is a handicap in the dance competition.  She is  aloof  because she is shy and she doesn't like to talk. I was condescending with my friend because I was nervous about the conference with my supervisors, but I  now want to apo...

Honesty is the best policy

Imagen
The majority of the time people focus on the moment of the situación and don’t realize that a lie could cost you everything, when you tell one lie, it leads to another, So you tell two lies to cover each other, at the end of all you will become in a liar, it’s difficult when you tell a truth and nobody believe in you because your friends and family know that you are a liar even when you try to tell a truth you can’t because you are used to liying. Honesty is the best choice because lead us to be better and get confidence. I think that the truth doesn’t cost anytime and being honest always help. Sometimes is difficult to be honest because you don't want to look bad I front of your boss or with a subject, but when we tell the truth help to have an opportunity Instead of disappoint others. Honesty is the best witness in many cases.

The tipping point

The corona virus is currently a tipping point in our country in the Dominican's life. Not only in the Dominican's life also throughout the world . Because this virus started as a normal disease in China and it became a world- wide trend. It is going to have a significant impact in society and on the economy. Everyone will be marked by this epidemic ,and we will always remember that crucial moment in our lives . This my opinion.
Unit 3: Bold and bashful Shyness is a state of mind that affects personal relationships. It is considered a behavioral guideline that limits the social development of those who experience it in their daily lives. There are several kind of shyness, I mean, different kind of shy people, those who manage an environment where there are a lot of people, those people share with other but want to drop out of that situation, and others who are afraid of speaking or sharing with others, and prefer to be alone and out of view. People go are shy tend to be timid, reselved, quiet, silent, and reliable. While  Someone who is outgoing has a tendency to socialize easily and excel in meetings, seeking to be the center of attention. People who are talkative tend to be easygoing, sociable, optimist, and active. Yeison Alcantara Castillo

The bold and bashful

the unit bold and bashful was really important  and didactic to me because during the process of the unit I learned a lot of things about that kind of people. talking about people which are bashful, we could say that majority of them have a low self-esteem and that is the reason why they became shy, this condition of shyness  keep them aloof of a lot of people and even work and goals. being shy sometines is means to have lack of self-confidence, and most of the time shy people that become depressed, they have psychological problems. The most harmful of this concecuenses in my opinion is the lack of self-confidence because if you don´t believe in yourself nobody is going to believe in you.  On the other hand, they exist people who are bold which mean totally the opposite of bashful, this kind of people are extroverted,  happy, ,very social and most of the time they get what they want due to their courage.
