Before talking about this unit I will explain what tipping point means: tipping point is an important event in a country, an important moment in your life for example: getting married 👰, graduate 👩🏻‍🎓, having a baby 🤰🏻, getting a promotion,etc. A time during an activity or process when an important decision has to be made or when a situation changes completely. In this unit o could see some vocabularies that I did not know before such as: Win over : that means persuade or convince. Epidemic:  which is a large number of cases of an infectious disease occurring at the same time. Generate: produce or create. Mavens: people who know a lot about a particular subject. Root: Cause, This is an image of a tipping point, having a baby.

The Bold and the Bashful is the topic of the unit three, it is about shy and not shy person, on the fallowing paragraph I will give some explanations about what bold and bashful mean. The Tipping Point. That day our teacher said, The Tipping Point is a very important moment of change, whether it is in our country or in our lives. For example a tipping point  In the history of the Dominican people, it was the proclamation of the first Dominican constitution, which took place in San Cristóbal on November 6, 1844. And the most important tipping point was  the day that we Dominicans became independent from foreign powers (February 27, 1844).     The meaning of some words that the teacher explained : Win over : To convince, persuade. Example: JCE is going to win you over to vote. Profile : Present, describe. Root : Origin. Example: The root of problem of the Dominican Republic is corruption. The Bold and the Bashful. Bold  is defined as free in behavior, or prominent. A  person who  is not afraid to speak up for  what  he believes, even to people with more power than him, is an example of someone  who  is  bold . A child  who  is too confident and arrogant as a result of being spoiled is an example of a child  who  is overly  bold . And  Bashful means shy  or  timid . ...  Bashful  and  shy are  similar in  meaning , but not quite identical.  Bashful  often describes  people  who  are shy  but friendly. In fact, being  bashful  is sometimes seen as an endearing quality.

A bold person is the opposite of the bashful person.  A bold person, is a person who is not afraid to speak up for what he believes, even to people with more power than him, a bold person is also self-confident, extrovert, involved quickly in a group.

Shyness is the feeling or feeling confortable among others. When aperson is shy, they may hesitate to say or do something because they feel insecure or afraid of what others think. New or unfamiliar situations can give us feelings of shyness;like the first day of class , when we first speak to a group of people etc...

As our teacher said, The Tipping Point is a very important moment of change, whether it is in our country or in our lives. In that case, we can also talk about the situation in which our country (Dominican Republic) was involved after the hurricane San zenon, as they tell me it was a very critical situation. 

The Tipping Point The tipping point is an important moment, important changes in the country, countryside etc. Coronavirus is an important tipping point now, it is affecting the world at this time, as we already know, that disease is changing our hobby, now we can't stay outside, many people are dying, and we can't travel or hug somebody, because we are scared of getting sick. That make me feel sick, because I am afraid, I want to hug my friend and go out, but I can't, I don't want to hurt someone, If I am getting sick and didn't know about it. However, we need to be strong and work hand by hand, to save our life, we need to stay home, while Doctors are doing the best for us, they are sacrificing their self, the only thing that we need to do is watching our hands, do not touch our faces and stay home.

The Bold and The bashful As the teacher said in class "The bold is a person who is friendly, brave, extrovert and talkative and The Bashful is the opposite, introvert, timit and doesn't like to talk". In my opinion, I consider myself in both case, because sometime I am friendly, empathetic, hard working, carrying, understanding and supporting, but other time, I don't feel in that way, I am shy, sensitive, quiet, complaining, a negative person, but not always, that depende on how I feel.

For me is very important to be honest because you can become someone others can trust. It is not a good option to be a liar . If you are honest you will have a free life, you won’t hide things and you are  going to be happy . I would say that the most important thing in this life is when you are real to yourself and other. The Bold and the Bashful         The content of this unit reminded me of a time I was considered shy and introverted. I also particularly remember being  misattributed  of having an  aloof  personality by many of my classmates in middle school and high school. The Bold: Friendly, extrovert, a person who likes to make friends. He/she says what he/she thinks. Not shy, outgoing. He regarded honesty as the best tool for a successful life. In my personal opinion, I would say that there are many reasons to why people would lie, such as some might lie to save their lives, while other would lie for a job. These are just small examples.     In this unit, I listened to an audio in which Dr. Zimbardo shares his knowledge about shyness. He divided shyness into two types: situational or momentary shyness, and chronic and dispositional shyness. He says that the momentary shyness, as his name implies, is only for the moment and can be created due to negative thoughts, physical tension or when you are in awkward situation. However, he compares dispositional shyness to Quasimodo’s hump because it is something that you carry around. Moreover, people tend to make misattributions about shy people who think they are stupid, boring and aloof. Overall, we could all have been shy in any situation; thus, shyness is not the problem itself, the problem is when it isolates us creating handicap in our social relationships. There are many reasons why people tell lies, such as to avoid punishment, but lies are only short-term solutions, and you would get caught up in lies because once you lie you will have to keep lying. If you are honest with others you do not have to remember the lies you told them. Moreover, being honest will allow people to trust you. And, this is one of the reasons why people try to be honest because they do not want to lose the relationship they have with others, and because they also think in the long-term consequences of lying. The Bold and the Bashful Ever since I was young I have been an introverted person. People would often tell me they wanted to know what I was thinking, while others would judge me as rare or aloof. And I actually think some were annoyed by my reticence. But you see, I did have people I was open with. I remember my friends Maria and Gabriela. We certainly were kindred souls, liked the same things, thought alike. Our shyness was not a handicap; I am convinced, for it allowed us to reflect on life issues, and it kept us from impulsiveness, from further regrets. However, it is important not to let fear hold us back when we need to speak up. There will be uneasy moments which require stepping outside of our comfort zone. There will be phobias we need to overcome, gradually, little by little. Everyone has their own pace. No matter how long it takes, as long as you keep walking.

This unit was about two personality types, the bold and the bashful. Even though there are more personality types, these two seem to be more pervasive. If we define bold with synonyms, we would say that the people characterized with this personality type are extrovert, social, friendly, outgoing among others. Honesty is a value that few people have. Most people are liars and some people became addicted to lying to fell better than others. Hi Partners and Professor! As with all the topics seen up until now on the textbook I encounter this chapter very up-to-date and helpful when it comes to boosting our vocabulary. I label myself as something in between Bold and Bashful. Sometimes, depending on the circumstances I can be either of both.

In this unit we were working with personalities, The Bold and the Bashful are  representing two types of personalities, the first refers to the person who is extrovert and the second refers to the introvert person. A person is considered extrovert when he talks and shares constantly with others, he is friendly  , happy most of the time, helps others, is surrounded by different types of people and shares with them regularly, even this guy is said to have very high self-esteem, but on the other hand we have the person  introverted, these types of people are very quiet, they are alone most of the time, they hardly share with anyone, they are usually more boring and they are even said to have very low self-esteem.

Honesty is a really important thing in each person, it can even be one of the things that defines you as a person, although some people give themselves to the task is being dishonest. Being honest represents respect for others, while dishonesty is the opposite.  Honesty opens up many avenues for you in life, not only personally, but also socially, economically and professionally, because if you are honest, everyone will trust you.

I was thinking of my last semester and my exposicion about types of personalities and the Myer-Briggs Indicators. The Myers-Briggs test gives you  either high self-esteem or low self-stem and some other factors to describe a personality type. Self-Esteem is so important for a person to develop. Self-Esteem is on of the most important factor involved on language learning.

In this unit we talk about honesty, which is defined as a facet of moral character that connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, etc., honesty also involves being trustworthy, loyal, fail, and sincere. However, experts have created general groups in order to classify or label how we are, usually making overgeneralizations when trying to fit someone in a specific group.      In the picture below we see characteristics of two main classifications regarding people’s personality traits. We also talked about lie . Our English book says that a "white lie" is a small lie  , or a "half-truth" that someone tells because he or she thinks it won't hurt someone else . A lie is when you don't tell the truth.

Our nation is going through a historical situation since our senators and representatives have committed innumerable crimes. In their campaigns, they lie and promise countless things, after getting the power, what they actually do, is to steal as much as possible to benefit themselves, their family, also acquaintances, giving them superficial positions.
